Celebrating Two Years with my Best Friend
This weekend, Evan and I travelled to Charlotte, NC, as it is the main location we are considering for after school. Our anniversary is February 25th, so we left for Charlotte on Thursday morning, and were there by early afternoon. To kick off the weekend, I went to Drybar at SouthPark, which was an incredible experience! I have been a loyal Drybar product user for years, and have great experience with all of their tools. During quarantine, one of my favorite things to do to keep busy was to look at their YouTube videos to learn how to do some of their most requested styles at home! If you’re not familiar with Drybar, they are a female-founded company, and they started primarily as a place where you could go to get your hair styled. Their slogan is “No cuts. No color. Just Blowouts!” They have fantastic customer service, and all of my interactions with them have been incredibly positive. After my hair was finished, we went to Paco’s Tacos and Tequila for a quick lunch, and then headed to the hotel.
We were blessed with a hotel room at The Ballantyne by Evan’s parents. The room was absolutely incredible, and definitely one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever stayed. Complete with a kitchen, dining area, and sitting room, the room was stunning! If you’re looking for a getting ready suite for you and your bridesmaids in the Charlotte area, this would be an amazing spot. Filled with natural light, with plenty of room to spread out, you and your bridesmaids would be so comfortable in the space!
After getting settled, we headed off to dinner at Fahrenheit. The view was absolutely stunning, and the food was delicious! Evan and I both agree that dinner is in our top ten best meals we’ve ever had. We were blessed with a beautiful night, so even though we were sitting right next to the doors that were open to outside, it was comfortable, so we had a clear view of the city skyline.
The next morning we kicked things off with breakfast at Cafe Monte, which was a delicious French cafe. After getting a bite to eat, we ventured over to the Restoration Hardware, which basically should be considered an art museum…or maybe Disney World for interior design… or maybe both. There is even a rooftop bar, which we heard is incredible, but there were no reservation times available. We spent the rest of the early afternoon at SouthPark Mall, which had many of my favorite shops, from Lululemon to Nordstrom to Anthropologie, and so much more! In Blacksburg, we really only have Target, Belk, and Homegoods, so I enjoy every opportunity to shop with some variety.
Later that afternoon we went back to the hotel spa, as we were also gifted a couples massage. The Spa was incredible, and would also be a fantastic place to spoil your bridal party! Afterwards, we were surprised with a room service delivery of Champagne, which was delicious! We then got ready for dinner at Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar, but we decided we would probably only recommend this spot if you want a burger. The rest of the menu was pretty meh. To finish off the night, we stopped by Golden Cow Creamery, which had unique and interesting ice cream combos!
Saturday morning we grabbed some Einstein’s bagels, packed up the room, and headed out. The rest of the day was spent shopping at Atherton Mill and Market, where there happened to be more of my favorite shops! Before getting on the road, we grabbed some Cava (YUM), and I stopped by Not Just Coffee, which was some of the best coffee I had the entire trip!
Now we’re back in Blacksburg, but the trip was such a nice break to reset and recharge. We’ll probably be back in Charlotte soon, for more job hunting, so I’ll keep you posted with recommendations!
