Life Lately

Life has been crazy! I had expected things to slow down a little after graduation, but that just hasn’t quite happened yet.

Grad season was absolutely amazing, and I couldn’t be more grateful to have spent my last few weeks on campus with such amazing people! Honestly, I’m still so excited about all of their sessions, so you can expect a blog post in the near future with more details! I also had the opportunity to spend some time with my cousin Albany in Knoxville, TN. She and her family asked me to come take pictures of her commissioning ceremony for the Army from the ROTC program at UTK, as well as take some grad pictures of her! The weekend was a blast, and I am so glad I had the opportunity to spend time with her and her family!

In the middle of grad season was the annual Fashion Merchandising and Design Society (FMDS) Fashion Show, and I designed two looks for the show, helped with photography, and was involved with planning and logistics as the president of FMDS. This year’s theme was Minimalism at its Strongest, and while it was different than past shows, it was beautiful, incredibly unique, and the perfect show to have in the midst of COVID. Watch for more about that around here too because it was so beautiful I can’t wait to share! ;)

The fashion show wrapped up, grad sessions wrapped up, classes and finals wrapped up, and then it was time to graduate! What I didn’t know is that Evan would propose the same weekend, so now we’re ENGAGED!!! I’m so excited to start wedding planning, and can’t wait to share the process with you guys!! We’re taking a while to enjoy engagement before planning begins, and we’re thinking it will be a longer engagement, but we can’t wait to share with you guys!!

As if that wasn’t enough to process and enjoy… two weeks after graduation, my mom, my sister, and I travelled to Florida to the Jacksonville Mayo Clinic to go to some appointments for Morgan. She’s been dealing with severe stomach issues since January, and she can’t seem to find answers. Her story isn’t mine to share, but prayers would be greatly appreciated. While traveling to Florida, we also found out that my stepdad had a stroke the morning after we left. While he is recovering well, prayers for his health and stability would also be greatly appreciated.

Once we returned from Florida, Evan and I also had to move out of our houses in Blacksburg, and move into our new townhouse in Maryland! I love designing and decorating, so I’m excited to share the design process with you! It’s turning out to be so cozy and homey, and a perfect blend of both of our styles. Evan prefers more modern styles and darker neutrals, while I prefer classics with bright whites and pastels. Melding the two has been such an exciting challenge, and I’ve drawn a lot from Studio McGee and even their line for Target! I can’t wait to show you the results!

I also had my birthday, and my youngest sister, Meredith, made her Confirmation, which is crazy to think about! We have also already had some amazing visitors at our new place, including my mom and Jared and Caitlin, some of our closest friends from school. More has happened in the last month than I had ever anticipated, but it’s all helped me to remember what’s most important in life: spending time with those we love, because we never know how much time is left. I’m reminded to Enjoy the Little Things each and every day, and I’m so grateful for that reminder. I am so excited to share more with you all more consistently!!
