An Ashland Family Session

Family sessions are always special to me, especially when I have the honor to photograph families I have grown up with. When the Inge family came to me with the idea of giving their grandmother, Nannie, a Family Session gift voucher as her Christmas gift, I was beyond ecstatic. Avery, one of the granddaughters, and I grew up dancing together at Ashland’s local dance studio, Diane Hale School of Dance. During those years, we quickly became carpool buddies and fast friends. Her sister, Sydney, also joined us a few years after, and I have loved every moment with their family. Avery has been like another sister to me, and Sydney will be a Hokie this coming fall, which is very exciting!

I say this about so many locations, but taking pictures in Ashland is so special to me, since this is where I grew up. I love the small town feel, and the train tracks that run through the middle of town. I love the white picket fences surrounding the yards where children and dogs run and play. Photographing at a family’s home is also so important to me, because after all, that is where memories are made. Being able to shoot at a family home in the middle of Ashland, well thats just the icing on the cake! A family’s bond is such a special thing, and to be able to capture that with my camera is such a blessing!

Inge family, thank you so much for blessing me with this opportunity! Getting to capture these moments will always be so special to me!
