Puppies and Pumpkins

puppies in the fall

It’s been a while since I checked in, but life has been crazy since being back at school. This past weekend, however, was fall break, which was the perfect opportunity to get back home, spend some time with my dogs, and enjoy the crisp fall weather. The bond between my mom and our family dogs is the SWEETEST thing, and she absolutely loves when we have new pictures of them (after all they are children to her). So she was very excited when I came home and had some free time, to do this spontaneous shoot with our pups!

This may just seem like a girl with her camera, who just loves her dogs way too much (which is only partially true). Taking a step back to photograph something as close to me as my family pets really made me take a step back to realize what is important. Not only have I been running like a crazy person at school, even in my time home I was rushing around to get everything done, go everywhere I needed to go, and still finish up remaining schoolwork. One of the things I struggle with most is not making my life just a longgg to-do list that never shrinks and grows exponentially. Instead of spending time with those close to me, or even just time relaxing myself, I constantly am putting my to-do list first. Let me tell you, this mindset doesn’t do healthy things for life. Then, even when I do spend time with friends and family, I am always thinking of more and more I have to do, things I forgot to write down, and deadlines approaching much faster than I had anticipated.

So this fall I am focusing on taking pictures of my dogs. Well, not just that. Taking time to enjoy those important to me. Taking time for myself to relax and take a step back from the everyday chaos that I have accustomed myself to, that I have somehow convinced myself is normal. And as always, taking more time to enjoy the little things.
